Vintage ,collectible and rare Bass guitars for sale.
Vintage 1969 model 319 Silvertone Bass guitar for sale at Greg's Guitars. 3 tone sunburst finish, bolt on neck, double cutaway somewhere between a Moserite and a Burns Bison style. Body is 1 1/2 inches thick 30" scale,1 15/16 nut width, adjustable bridge saddles. 2 rocker style pickup switch selection.Weight is 8 pounds and 6 ounces.Neck is straight.I have seen this described as a model 419 but even though it appears to be the same bass this bass has model 319 in the neckplate.Speaking of neckplate ,this has 6 bolts as opposed to 4 which is factory original as well. All electronics function properly and appear to be all original as well, cool design for the bass player that wants something a little out of the ordinary.Build date appears to be 8/69 according to stamp on bottom of pickup. No body or neck date stamp appears to have ever been stenciled in. ~ $750.00 ~
Danelectro Vintage Longhorn bass for sale. Danelectro was one of those companies that combined cool looks, cheap
parts,good tone,playability,affordability and a solidly constructed
guitar in the hands of American youths everywhere.
Everyone who is anybody has at one time or another laid down some licks
with a Dano of some sort or another, These were their best selling bass
guitars they offered.Rather rare on the market
this vintage 1965 Danelectro longhorn bass,ccopper/white sunburst finish, masonite
and pine body, poplar neck with Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, original
black hard shell case.small, light semi-hollow body is extremely handy
and the two Danelectro "lipstick tube" pickups produce a bright and
punchy sound. With the short-scale neck set deep into the body and the
bridge near the bottom end the instrument is very compact and cool.the concentric stacked
tone/volume knobs used on the two-pickup models of both series, and the
"lipstick-tube" pickups—invented by placing the entire mechanism into
spare lipstick tubes—aimed to produce no-frills guitars of reasonably
good tone at low cost. In 1956, Danelectro introduced the six-string
electric bass, which would be adopted by other companies such as Fender®
with the Fender® VI. The six string bass never proved especially
popular but found an enduring niche in Nashville as the instrument of
choice for "Tic-tac" bass lines. In 1966, Danelectro was sold to MCA. A
year later, the Coral line, known for its hollow-bodies and electric
sitars, was introduced. In 1969, the Danelectro plant was closed, due to
MCA's attempt to market Danelectros to small guitar shops rather than
large department stores. ~ 2200.00 ~
Vintage 1967 Hofner Beatle bass 500 - 1, Original hard case ,1967 Hofner violin Beatle bass, original case, resent neckset so no
problems for the next owner what so ever.1 bass every bass player should
own. Bound neck ,blade pickups, non raised Hofner logo on headstock,
plastic butterbean tuning keys. All in all a really cool bass guitar.
In 1956, Walter Höfner invented an electrically amplified, semi-acoustic
bass guitar. The hollow body made this style of guitar very light and
easy to play, as well as giving it a rich tone, similar to that of the
traditional double bass. A major advantage for the bass came in early
1961, when it caught the eye of a young Paul McCartney. McCartney is
left-handed, and he admired the instrument's symmetrical shape, allowing
him to simply switch sides.McCartney would acquire two of these models
over time; his original 1961 model, and an updated 1962 model the
company gave him. The guitar given to McCartney was a '62 model, even
though he received it in 1963. Afterward, McCartney mainly played the
1962 model, leaving the original to serve backup duty. In 1964, he had
his 1961 model refinished in sunburst and had new pickups and an updated
pickup surround system installed. He can be seen using this bass in the
"Revolution" promo video, strangely with the strap attached to the top
of the headstock instead of the neck heel strap button. He continued to
regularly use the violin bass until 1965, Sometime during the recording
of Let It Be, the 1961 model was stolen from Abbey Road Studios, a fate
met by much of the band's equipment over the years. He switched to
using his 1962 model for the remainder of the album. He is still in
possession of the 1962 bass as of 2011.

1978 vintage Fender Musicmaster bass guitar for sale. Original down to the original vintage case,no issues or repairs, several small indentations, swirls and scratches . An easy and affordable way to get into some vintage wood without spending a bucketload of dough.Fun to play ,easy and light ,the short scale offers different tonal ranges and diversity for the bass player, collector,or even a younger player looking for vintage styling and equipment. The Fender Musicmaster Bass
is a model of electric bass guitar produced between 1971 and 1981.As
with its six-string counterpart, which was a stripped-down version of
the Fender Mustang electric guitar, the Musicmaster Bass is a simpler
version of the Mustang Bass.
It features a very short 30" scale, the shortest of any bass produced
by Fender. All of the Musicmaster's electronics are mounted onto a
single piece of plastic.Like many of Fender's other budget-priced
guitars, the Musicmaster
Bass used many surplus parts from other Fender models. The bodies were
leftover Mustang bass guitar
bodies, while the pickups were six-pole guitar pickups, rather than
four-pole bass pickups. Many players modified the bodies of their
Musicmaster basses to accommodate precision style double pickups or
enhanced electronics. The Musicmaster Bass was introduced in 1971, and
originally came in
either black, red or white finish.

O.K. boys and girls next up is a 1967 Fender® Mustang® bass, it appeared
that it MAY have been refinished until I conferred with other guitar
dealers and the finish is an original Olympic white ,yellowed lacquer
top coat with a black underfinish or base coat from Fender®. You can see
the Original cavities, paint stick strip and strong color under the
guard, with the yellowed ,checked, flaked lacquer top coat used during
this era.Cavity metal shielding still in place, correct date
stamps, correct top coat (yellowed) ,correct Olympic white finish.
Never being one to shy away from a cool vintage piece of gear that is
reliced the old fashioned way, through love and playing countless gigs
this Mustang® bass still retains all it's original parts, including the
string mute flat spring pieces on the bridge, strong pickups,Brazilian
fingerboard, looks to be the original nut as well. The guitar dates to
early 1967,pot codes, neck stamp as well. A chip styled later ( I think
1972ish) Fender® red lined case presumably offered with Duo sonic and
later Mustang® guitars accompanies the Bass, it fits,it latches and it
is rather cool and somewhat rare. Chipped, checked, worn and rocking, ahhh
that's what I like.
Fender issued the Mustang® Bass in 1966. It was the companion to its
Mustang® electric guitar which made the scene two years earlier.the
Mustang® Bass was the last original bass designed by Leo Fender® before
his departure from the company in 1965. The Mustang® Bass has a short
30" scale and a single split pickup (similar to the P-bass), one volume
and one tone control, with strings-through-body routing. Like the early
Precision and Jazz basses, the Mustang® Bass was fitted with string
mutes (although most players removed these).
Players of The Mustang® bass include Tomethy Furse and, more recently,
Rhys Webb of The Horrors and Miss Frankie Stein of The Mission Creeps
use all-black Mustang® Basses.
Trevor Bolder of David Bowie and The Spiders from Mars used a Mustang®
Bass among many other basses. Pete Agnew of Nazareth (band) used a
Mustang® bass on LP Loud 'n' Proud 1973.
Denny Laine occasionally used one
during his time with Wings, when lead singer Paul McCartney would switch
from bass to piano or guitar.Mustang® basses, like all
Fender® guitars, were finished in nitrocellulose lacquer up until 1968,
What made this Fender® bass guitar different was that its scale length
was only 30”, a big departure from their other two famous bass guitars.
With the rock & roll boom of the sixties, Fender® wanted to create a
bass that would appeal to the new wave of teenage guitar players.the
finish on these and other Fender® guitars is that the earlier models
would tend to yellow due to the type of lacquer used.
We have plenty of additional photographs for the interested. ~ON HOLD ~

May trade for a 5 string bass..............................
Sometimes you have to know when to leave well enough alone and that's
the case with this Fender® Precision Bass®. I had the thought that
hmmm... this is one killer neck on this bass, so here we have for sale a 1971 P Bass® in 3 tone sunburst finish
with solid rosewood neck and badass bridge, see what I mean, this bass
is a better player than when it was original, so I am just leaving well
enough alone. The neck, if your up on things is an original Schecter
rosewood neck from the 1970's, yea now your starting to understand why I
am leaving her as is. If your not privy to the early Schecter legacy then do a Google search on Schecter you will know
why these early parts were and are still so desirable, for example In
1976 David Schecter opened Schecter Guitar Research, a repair shop in
Van Nuys, California. The small repair shop manufactured replacement
guitar necks and bodies, complete pickup assemblies, bridges,
pickguards, tuners, knobs, potentiometers, and miscellaneous other
guitar parts. Eventually, Schecter Guitar Research offered every part
needed to build a complete guitar. It supplied parts to guitar
manufacturers such as Fender® and Gibson and to custom repair shops that
were building complete guitars out of Schecter parts. Notable early
Schecter owners were Pete Townsend and Mark Knopfler. Many a well known
guitar player prized their Schecter necks and later their custom built
guitars. So why ruin a happy marriage ? The neck is killer ,the guitar
is killer and the bridge is a happy upgrade for any serious bass player.
I am dating the neck in the early 70's due to the serial number which
is F735P - 62XX, (F for Fender, date and P for Precision Bass) Comes with a Black tolex Fender® styled hard case, green lining (no idea).weight
9.2...
