Vintage, rare and collectible  Acoustic Guitars For Sale.

Greg's guitars ,the leader in vintage Grammer guitar sales and vintage guitar consignments brings yet another phenomenal acoustic guitar from out of the woodpile, Solid spruce top with solid Brazilian rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck. This is what I refer to as a transitional model appointed guitar , evident by the narrow nut, rail road track fingerboard inlay stripes and pickguard shape, but she also has the lower case grammer guitar on the batwing headstock front as well as the Ampeg label. A very nice and clean no issue example of vintage American workmanship and quality. The tone is excellent, playability is fine and as The Grammer Guitar Spokesman I can attest that these finer examples are becoming more difficult to unearth. Vintage Grammer acoustic guitar made in the U.S.A and brought to you from Greg's Guitars.

Vintage 1952 Martin D 18 acoustic guitar for sale at Greg's Guitars., Crazy clean, blacklights perfectly.1 3/16 nut, Guitar appears to have never had a neckset ,and as with all Martin guitars with any age on them a neck set would be beneficial. Serial number 1236XX.Kluson original tuners ,finish is excellent. Minimal fret wear, Brazilian bridge,Tortoise guard. They just very rarely come in any cleaner than this.
Non original newer Martin Hard shell green lined case. I really have no words to describe the condition that this vintage guitar is in other than exceptional. Take a look at the pictures and see for yourself. This Martin will probably go pretty fast to some lucky new owner.  ON HOLD

Another Vintage 1954 Martin 00018 acoustic guitar for sale at Greg's guitars , I love these 1950 era Martin acoustic guitars and hate seeing them go ,but that's the business. Some bumps and bruises but don't let that detract from what this vintage Martin is, a tone maker.  Tortise bound, wonderful stock modified "V" neck. She has  a neckset and new frets. Email me at gregsguitars1@yahoo.com with your interest . Mahogany back and sides, spruce top, refret, neckset, some side cracks repaired a very long time ago professionally, the guitar blacklights perfectly.Wonderfully loud and responsive with very nice overtones as expected.Very strong projection very nice feeling neck.  Comes with yellow lined hard case as seen.                                                                    $ON HOLD

The Grammer acoustic Guitar. Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, solid spruce top, railroad track inlays, multi colored back stripe,Brazilian veneer headstock overlay, Ampeg marketed transitional version as it retains original R.G. and G. factory appointments with narrow 1 and 5/8ths nut (replaced nut).It is just one serial number higher in sequence from the other Brazilian rosewood model Grammer guitar  I have listed further down the page.Great playing and sounding guitar built in Nashville by the Billy Grammer factory under the Ampeg distribution era. Here is the lowdown on this Grammer guitar. If your familiar with early rock a billy then the name " Bobby Helms " should ring a bell, Bobby played several Grammer guitars in his career, this being one of them.Bobby was popular for songs such as "Jingle Bell Rock","My Special Angel", "Borrowed Dreams","New River Train " and others . Bobby was also associated with Hank Garland. Well the story goes that Bobby was down in a poker game one evening  and offered this guitar as a marker, his hand lost and it eventually  found it's way to Greg's Guitars. I have no reason to doubt the story and as a sleuth you can research and find pictures of the guitar with Bobby. Own a piece of Music history from the palace of Grammer guitars, Greg's guitars. Trades considered ,offers entertained on this spectacular Grammer guitar.

Well,Well....When you offer acoustics you need to offer cool vintage pieces or something special like The Bourgeois Vintage D Adirondack acoustic guitar offered for sale here at Greg's Guitars. No issue ,mint condition and a real pleasure to play .Comes with hard shell black plush lined case. The only standard herringbone style dreadnought you don't have to imagine what it might sound like that can make this claim. See the videos on youtube and read the reviews. With the few years age on her she really sounds great and is in excellent mint condition. Adirondack spruce, also known as Eastern Red Spruce, was the legendary topwood used on most pre-war American-made guitars. Properly sawn, Adirondack is much stiffer than Sitka and Engelmann spruce, both along and across the grain. This allows for thinner, lighter tops, resulting in lightning-quick response and power to spare. Most guitar grade "Adirondack" spruce these days comes from the state of Maine, which still has large stands of original and second growth softwood forests. To maintain a vintage look, only the highest grade of East Indian rosewood, perfectly matched and quartered with tight, straight grain and darker-than-average color. To round out the visual package, the Vintage Dreadnought also features herringbone top trim, ivoroid body binding, slotted squares and diamonds inlay, premium tortoiseshell pickguard and nickel Waverly tuners. Dana Bourgeois is known around the world for his superb craftsmanship and also as one of the foremost authorities on the voicing, selection and utilization of fine acoustic tonewoods. Also professionally installed pickup system, a 300.00 value for free.... 2012 is starting out with great things here at the shop and only look to get even better.

Extremely rare Vintage Grammer Acoustic guitar for sale, R.G®.and G®. Guitars. Rarity, playability, desirability, beauty, originality and integrity These words help describe what one looks for when adding to their collection as a player or as a collector. This Grammer guitar from the original R.G®. & G®. factory that was located in Nashville Tennessee during the mid 1960's fits the bill as we will see. 1 - Rarity: The first 70 Grammers (approximately) employed a solid mustache style bridge as well as an over exaggerated wider lower headstock wing on them, a bit more flanged and exaggerated they also had a less "physco hillbilly" pickguard. Sometime after the 20th guitar was assembled, the decision was made to redesign the bridge, pickguard, and headstock. The later models featured a crown style bridge. Billy thought The crown bridge completed and complimented the overall design and look of the guitar. ( I like the early one as well). The pickguard (s) changed somewhat to a more bat wing appearance on both ends and the lower wings on the headstock were tapere more to save both materials and production time. ( I really like this one.) So as far as "rare" goes ,this is one of the Rarest R.G®. and G®. "Grammer" guitars ever produced as it is # 98 in production (1099 serial number) and possibly one of the last to employ these first appointments. To top that of it is only the second guitar in the first run that I have ever seen, and I have been " THE" Grammer guitar nut for years. 2 - Playability: no issues here, good tone, good wood, good looks,no buzzing, easy to fret. 3 - Desirability: True these do have a "cult" following and due to me they are now listed in the vintage guitar price guide, I sell everyone I get and have other dealers buying them from me, figure it out. 4 - Beauty: The pictures speak for themselves, Billy Grammer had his shop personnel use only select woods and great craftsmanship on his guitars and it shows. 5 - Originality and integrity,This is an original R.G®. and G®. "Grammer guitar from the original Nashville factory , through the years a few repairs and altercations have taken place, lets cover what I know and what I don't know about this particular Grammer guitar. A- The guitar is an original. The bridge, fretboard, pickguard are all original to this guitar. several braces were loose and are being re glued as I write this up. The guitar has binding along the neck, Most every Grammer that was made for retail consumption never had binding on the neck , Billy Grammer himself told me this, with the exception of a "Custom Order" , so this was either custom ordered with binding or when this guitar was possibly refretted the binding was added then. This is one area that we will never know for sure as all the R.G®. and G®. factory order information as well as every other record were all destroyed in a fire. The guitar has had a neck set and material was taken from the neck heel area at the body joint. The guitar retains its original finish but has been over sprayed very lightly over the entire guitar and buffed to a magnificent shine as you see now, with all checking still observable beneath. One of the rarest Grammer guitars I know of and a booming, great playing guitar with original hard case.

For sale Gretsch arctop guitar: The Gretsch Synchromatic line of archtops came to market in 1939 and was positioned to go head to head with market leader Gibson Guitars. The Synchromatic 100 debuted at a $100 price point and was the most uncharacteristic model in the Synchromatic series. Unlike all of the other Synchromatics, the 100 did not feature the signature "cat's eye" soundhole. All Synchromatic models were named according to their price, i.e. the Synchormatic 100 cost $100, the Synchromatic 160 cost $160, etc.

With a sunburst finish, maple sides and back, curved spruce top, 2 "f" style soundholes,  rosewood fingerboard with pearl inlays, and a rosewood bridge, The Synchromatic 100 was an appealing looking archtop guitar. The 100 underwent  modifications over the course of its life. In '33 it debuted as the 100f. Then in '39, the company changed it's name to the Synchromatic 100. In '46, the logo was positioned on the headstock and the soundholes and pickguard were bound. In '47, the headstock was made bound. In '49, the model number changed from 100 to 6014 in order to be incorporated into the new Gretsch model numbering system. In '52, the binding was taken away from the soundholes, headstock and pickguard. In '55, the Synchromatic was given the name the Corsair and eventually production stopped altogther in 1960. As was mentioned above, the Synchromatic 100 was unlike all the other models in the Synchromatic series as it featured the traditional f soundholes rather than the signature "cat¹s eye" soundholes.        Sooooo with all that said I am pretty certain this particular guitar was the 1949 to 1951 model "6014 "as the headstock ,top and back are  bound and the F holes are unbound. The original pickguard is missing although the original screws are in place for one ( they make reproductions now) The tailpiece is a 60 era replacement as the original broke and their is slight separation of the headstock veneer ,one screw replaced on "D" tuning gear.Numerous checks and surface aging , no case although one can be purchased separately.
